At the end of their seven days’ visit to the Rajkumar College, Rajkot, the French delegates left today early morning for Mumbai to visit other places of interest in India.
During their stay at RkC, they visited the Alfred High School, Dolls Museum, Gir Sanctuary, Palitana, the watch factory at Morbi, the ceramic tiles manufacturing unit at Kutch, et al.
Yesterday morning they visited the Halfway House, where the Rajkumar College Environmental Awareness Centre is proposed to be developed. Both the staff and students from the Gymnase Jean Sturm, Strasbourg were interested to see the lifestyle of the local people living in that area. Later in the evening they witnessed the Annual Cross Country Race which was again a learning experience for them.
A farewell dinner was hosted for them in the lawns of the Principal’s Bungalow. The Principal, Mr. Vinod Thakkar welcomed everybody and expressed his happiness in having such wonderful peopleCultural programmes from students of both Schools were presented for the entertainment of the guests, among who were the College Trustee, Thakor Saheb Shri Jitendrasinhji of Muli, School Management Committee members from Rajkot, host families and senior Staff members. The audience was touched when they saw the French students perform on a Hindi song and at the end when they all came dressed in Indian ‘kurtas’ and ‘chaniya cholis’.
Speaking to the gathering, the Headmaster of Gymnase Jean Sturm, Strasbourg said that the whole visit was a learning experience for the students as well as him. They have gained a lot in knowing about different aspects of India like the culture, food, education system, lifestyle, etc. He wished that in the coming years there should be not only student exchange programmes between both the schools but also teacher exchange programmes. He further added that they would all take with them fond memories of the Rajkumar College which they will cherish forever.
At the end of the dinner, much to the surprise of everybody present, music was played for everybody to join the dance floor and make merry.
