Brief Write-Up of the Activity:-
VISIT TO CONSTRUCTION SITE & VIRANI DEAF AND DUMB SCHOOL
Interactors distributed drinks, sandwiches and blankets among the workers at the construction site. The students had divided themselves in three teams, each team assigned to one of the three tasks. We rotated among ourselves so that every member had an experience of participating in the services. Interactors then headed to our next destination, the Virani Deaf and Dumb School. Once there, we realized that this was going to be fun and easier than we had anticipated. The children, ranging from the age of 5-20 years, were cheerful and outgoing and understood everything we wanted to convey with blissful ease. Interactors once again distributed themselves into teams and each team undertook groups of children of the same age groups. The games thus begun, consisting of bowling, cricket, dodgeball, volleyball, twister, jenga, 7 stones, dog and the bone, kho kho, cup and balloon games among others. The children enjoyed playing and interacting with the members. One Interactor dress up as Santa and come to the children, who were instantly joyous on seeing Santa. The members then distributed snack pellets among the children. Next, Santa and the children danced and enjoyed for a while after which the children were served drinks and chocolates. In the end, Santa distributed stationery among them and the members took a group photograph with the children and the teachers. The members had also donated shoes and clothes to the school. We bade our goodbyes with smiling faces and left the campus. While boarding the bus, our hearts melted at the last goodbye the children gave us. Arriving back at RKC, every Interactor was content, their hearts filled with happiness and love. The day taught us that actions speak louder than words. |
