Have you ever wondered about your culture? We might not be well aware, but we come from a city of munificent rulers and scenic architecture. Our city has a legacy of rich heritage and culture. As the citizens and the future generation, it is our duty to be able to preserve and restore such wonderful monuments.

In order to make students appreciate the glorious monuments in and around the city, and to explore and esteem our city’s treasure the Rajkumar College, Girls’ Section organized a heritage walk around Rajkot on 11th August 2023. The walk took place from 7.30 am to 10 am where Form 9 students were taken around. The staff incharges were Dr Jyoti Jadeja and Ms Mamta Gohil.

Places Visited:

  1. LANG LIBRARY: Named after Colonel William Lang and renamed after the first mayor of Rajkot, Shri Arvindbhai Maniyar, this library stands tall in Jubilee garden since 1893.
  2. WATSON MUSEUM: This museum was named after a British political agent, Colonel John Watson.
  3. BANDSTAND: Next, we visited a bandstand in the midst of Jubilee garden.
  4. DHARMENDRASINHJI KAPAD MARKET: This market has a huge entrance and is designed similar to the modern malls.
  5. THOSA GALLI: This street is a one-way lane which is quite narrow.
  6. JUNAGADH NO UTARO.
  7. RAIYA NAKA CLOCK TOWER: This clock tower is three-storied building, the interior of which has wooden flooring all over.
  8. HAVELI (KRISHNA MANDIR): The carvings done on the pillars are beautiful and
  9. DARBARGARH: It is being renovated today to be converted to a museum. The eye-catching thing about it is the use of antique methods and natural materials for construction.
  10. BEDINAKA TOWER: A beautiful historical building and also a clock tower. The heritage walk got over at this place and everyone returned back to school with a full heart.
