PRINCIPAL’S REPORT 2023

Address:

Preamble :

It gives me immense pleasure to present the School report to you all after an unprecedented gap of almost four years. Like any other great institution, The Rajkumar college has also been a success story of resurrection and perseverance. As the Pandemic struck and the way of life changed for all of us, Rajkumar College also aligned with the new normal immediately and since then, there has been a relentless and comprehensive strive for ensuring continuity for a holistic and meaningful education.

Ladies and gentlemen, kindly allow me to give you a glimpse of all what has happened in the last academic year which has gone past.

Academics:

A total of 109 students appeared for Class 12 examinations last year which had a composition of 22 in sciences, 66 in Commerce and 21 in humanities. We had a success rate of 100 % in all three streams and the stream averages were 77.3 %, 72.2% and 78.9% in Sciences, Commerce and humanities respectively.

Krupali Narania made us proud by securing 88.8% as the batch topper in Sciences, Harsh Raj guru as the batch topper of Commerce by securing 94.8% and Dhriti Jogi as the batch topper of Humanities by securing 96.2 %…

  • A total of 168 students appeared for class 10 examination and the results were equally good. We had a 100% success rate with a batch average of 71.2%. Priyal Vaishnav made us proud by securing 94.8% as the batch topper.
  • We also hosted about 08 schools and their 700 candidates as the center for the CBSE annual board examinations.
  • The school reintroduced the Towner module, named as Day Boarders to enthuse our students for a more holistic education. Presently there are about 140 students enrolled in this programme.
  • Our faculty continue to strive for professional development and various Capacity Building Workshops for teachers were conducted which included topics like Happy Classroom, The Science of Thinking Critically & Design Thinking, Professionalism and Ed Tech tools etc. Our faculty members attended various workshops and seminars outside the school as well, like National Annual Conference of Sahodaya School Complexes, English language Workshops, IPSC Teachers Conclave, TOEFL session, Career Awareness Session on Architecture, workshop by Collins Learning India Pvt. Ltd., Foundational Numeracy and Literacy , ASSET examinations, “Careers in Aviation Field ” , Extramarks Educator Enrichment workshop and Self Defense workshop for girls among others.
  • The faculty is due for two workshops in two days’ time on POCSO Law & NEP 2020 .

Co Curricular Activities and Hobbies

  • Hobbies are considered to be an essential part of the curriculum of good residential and day boarding schools.
  • We ensure our students get immense exposure in terms of participation and representation in various activities. The college runs various hobby classes which include Art & Craft, Dance, Chess, Photography, Cooking, Vocal and Instrumental music, Ceramics and Clay modeling, Multimedia etc.
  • While many competitions were held within the school like Debates, elocutions, spell bee, recitations, painting, essay writing, quiz, dance, music and Yoga, our students also had participations in all said categories in various invitational contests in the city and outside. Our team comprising of 15 girls participated in IPSC Dharohar Fest held at Scindia Kanya Vidhyalaya, Gwalior in November 2022.
  • Our school participated in IPSC Music Fest 2022 held at Daly College, Indore last year. Our students won laurels for the school as Meher Kaur was awarded for Indian classical vocal solo, Megh Joshi got an award for western instruments solo and Rajeswari Barik won semi classical vocal solo award.

Sports & Games report

  • Sporting activities remain to be a highlight of the life of an RKCian. We take a lot of pride in our state of art Sports infrastructure and resultant comprehensive sports and fitness programme.
  • Post Pandemic, the Coaches have worked very hard to get the students back into shape and it required great teamwork and effort.
  • The Annual Athletics Meet for this year was held in the month of January with full splendor and zeal; Chief Guest for the event was Legendry Mr. Karsan Ghavri and This year’s Victor Ludorums for Girls and Boys are: Diya Lunagaria & Karnadevsinh Solanki
    • House Matches were conducted for Cricket, Table Tennis, Football, Hockey, Basketball and Badminton
  • Annual Cross-Country run was conducted on 9th April, 2023.
  • Friendly Practice Matches have been conducted for Football, Hockey, Cricket and Basketball for boys & girls in preparation of the coming year for Tournaments.
  • The RKC Cricket Team has participated in a Quadrangular Invitational Tournament at Manik Public School, Maniknagar – Karnataka where their performance was noteworthy and praised by all.
  • The RKC Cricket Team participated in the HH Madhavrao Scindia Trophy, at Scindia School Fort Gwalior – MP and they were the runners up in the tournament.
  • I am very proud to report that The RKC Pipe & Drums Band of Girls WON 1ST POSITION in All India IPSC Band Tournament held at The Scindia School, Fort Gwalior and the Band Leader Riya Pathan shared the Best Band Leader prize with the host school.
  • The Up-coming Shooting Team has shown remarkable potential in Air Rifle & Air Pistol, and hence would be participating in the School Games & Open Tournaments.
  • In Squash & Tennis too, our students have shown potential of performing well.
  • Devarsh Borkhetariya participated in the Open Nationals In Chess in U-17 age category.
  • In the Coming term, we would be witnessing the participation of our students in most of the distt, states and IPSC tournaments.

Outdoor Pursuits

  • Keeping in sync with the philosophy of Experiential education envisaged in the NEP 2020, it gives me immense pleasure to report that our students have been given plethora of opportunities for educational trips not only in vicinities but a pan India exposure as well.
  • The trips included visits to Bombay Stock Exchange, Jawarharlal Nehru Port Trust, Gujarat Assembly, The Science Museum, Industrial Visit to Aristone Ceramics, Thangadh , District Industry Centre, Rajkot Dairy, Lothal, star gazing event at Gir, trek to Bichhari, Global Uniexpo 2023,  Day trips to Junagadh, and overnight trips to Mt Abu, Sasan Gir Lion Sanctuary, Ooty-Coorg- Mysore etc.
  • The students are due for an educational trip to United States this June but more importantly for a high-altitude trek in Manali Sector in the summer vacations. As a mandate, all vacation trips organized by the School would now be having an element of challenge and adventure.

MUN

  • MUN conferences help students to develop public speaking, writing and research skills. It has brought about a strong culture of debating, focused discussion, reasoning and analytical thinking. It not only helps in the intellectual growth of the students but also connects them to the world around turning them into ‘GLOBAL CITIZENS’.
    • The School takes pride in a very sound culture of Model United Nations.
    • The RKC MUN version 9 and 10 were conducted in the months of September and January and we got an overwhelming response as they were attended by 200 and 150 participants respectively.
    • The School MUN team participated in the Welham MUN in August 2022 and as I speak, our team is participating in the Mayo College Girls’ School MUN.
    • Another contingent is due to go to Emerald Heights School MUN in Indore later this month.

NCC

  • The Rajkumar College takes pride in stating that we are amongst the very few schools in the country who have 04 wings of the NCC. There is a very rich culture of discipline and regimentation amongst our students due to NCC, which is evident in form of the Guard of Honour presented to the Hon CM on his arrival.
  • Our NCC endeavour held various activities throughout the session and some of them are Yoga Day celebration, Statue cleaning program, Adm. Inspection, Independence Day celebration, Republic Day celebrations, orientation/mock drill on Disaster Management for NCC cadets, social service activity was arranged with Priyalok Vilas children, RKC mess cleaning, obstacle training among other things.
  • We feel proud to announce that for the first time RKC has initiated a Rank Ceremony for NCC Cadets.
    • An NCC Camp was held at Khamta and our cadets won prizes in drill and cultural competitions.
    • Air Wing Cadet, Sgt Maheshwari Goradiya, with her immaculate turnout and proactive approach reached till Pre -RDC, Ahmedabad after successfully completing three Annual Training Camps held at Bhavnagar and Junagadh in the last one year. A Felicitation and Championship Banner Ceremony was held at D H College auditorium, Rajkot. Sgt Maheshwari Goradiya was awarded the Best Cadet prize. First Officer Sandeep Deshmukh was awarded for outstanding performance in social service and community development activities.

Interact Club and Community Service

  • Our Interact Club continues to make a mark in the community by carrying out effective activities and efforts to create a change.
  • Other than performing many skits, organizing ORA day and cleaning of the Academic blocks, the member students touched hearts at the Virani Deaf and Dumb School and our very own adopted village of Khankhana during their periodic visits. They carried out educational drive to sensitize the community about menstrual hygiene, good health, games and sports, finance nuances, career counselling, art and craft etc.

Round Square & AFS exchanges and Conferences

  • After a gap of almost 04 yrs, we are reviving the national & international exposure for our students.
  • A contingent of 07 students will be attending RS international conference at The Lawrence School, Sanawar in June.
  • We will be hosting a French student for a year courtesy AFS coming July on full academic scholarship.
  • We have revived the exchange ties with Le Gymnase Jean Strum, France and we hope mutual visits soon.
  • It gives me immense pleasure to state that we have established a student- teacher exchange with the Maharaja Independent High School, Warsaw Poland and we will begin with the mutual visits in coming October. This school is named after HH Jam Shri Digvijay Sinh Ji Jadeja of Jamnagar, fondly remembered as the Good Maharaja by the Polish.

Staff News

  • 09 of our teachers were bid farewell recently. We wish them all the luck for the future.
  • Sh Ram Singh Thapa – Head cook Mess Deptt was felicitated on his retirement and the school honored him for more than 52 years of dedicated services.

General Events

  • Most of you were witness to the War Trophy T – 55 Tank Unveiling Ceremony which was held on 24th November last year. The School celebrated the ‘Azadi kaa Amrit Mahotsava’ in full zeal and fervor. Since then, in a span of 04 months…102 events have taken place in and outside RKC.
  • We keep on excelling and achieving new feats and it is very important to share it not only with our stakeholders but the larger brotherhood outside. I am very happy to announce the formation of an All Student led ‘Media Team’ which will handle the reporting and showcasing of the events of School on 04 major social media handles namely School website, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram. Ladies and gentlemen, request you all to look for rkcrajkot.com, rkcrajkotoffcial on youtube, therajkumarcollegerajkot on facebook and Instagram and make it a success.
  • The Senior Management of the School is also launching an outreach program for RKC where we would reach out to Old Rkcians, prospective parents and well-wishers in various communities to join hands with us to take our School to greater heights.
  • All this would not have been possible for me to report had I not led a very capable and worthy team. I am very thankful to Our Coordinators, Housemasters, dedicated teachers, Bursar, Deputy Bursar and the entire admin staff, Hummal Bhaiyas and Aya Bens for their relentless support and effort throughout the year. A special thanks to parents, Old boys and girls for their constant support. I am really proud to lead such an enabled team.

 

  • On one of the Sunday morning visits, my grocer mistook me to be a manufacturer in the town. He asked me ‘ Tumey Shoo banao Cho’?
  • My prompt reply was ‘ Ame Saara Vyaktiyo Banaviye che’!
  • Ladies and Gentlemen, My reply was …’We make good human beings….’
