English Poetry Recitation Competition

“The crown of literature is poetry”

Poetry is just the evidence of life and the students of form VII and VIII exhibited their oratory skills in the English Poetry Recitation Competition held on the 11th of December, 2023 at The Bhavsinhji Hall, The Rajkumar College, Rajkot. All the participants had exhibited their prowess and eloquence with great enthusiasm.

The reciters were evaluated by in-house Judges Mrs. Preeti Francis, Mr. Soumick Bagchi, and Mrs. Neha Sheth. The participants were judged on the criteria such as pronunciation, expression, clarity, intonation, and overall presentation. They were mentored by Ms. Shalini Jadeja, Mrs. Vaishali Tondon, Mrs. Pooja Kochhar and Ms. Maitreyee Joshi.

Winners for the English Recitation Competition are as follows:

First position- Abhi  Ajmera (Jhalawar)

Second position- Hea Shah (Gohilwar)

Third position- Dhruvi Ruparel (Sorath)

 

 

 

 

Grandparents’ Day at Priyalok Vilas

Grandparents’ Day was celebrated at Priyalok Vilas on 26th October 2023 with great enthusiasm. The tiny tots gave a spectacular dance performance and performed a gummy bear drill for their grandparents. They also played a game of Antakshari which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Different activities were planned to give the grandparents and children a chance to bond with each other. The grandparents were also involved in making colorful Matkis which were later packed and given away to them as a token of love. Snacks were served to all, adding to the warmth of the event. It was an occasion of joyous celebration for all, and both the grandparents and the children left after the event with fond memories.

 

 

ANOs Conclave

The ANO Conclave was organized at the Rajkumar College by 2 Guj BN NCC, Rajkot on December 5, 2023. The event witnessed the participation of Armed Forces Officers, Associate NCC Officers, PI Staff, and Office Staff of various units. Group Commander Brigadier S. Sanjay addressed the gathering, emphasizing on the importance of regular NCC institutional activities. First Officer Mr Sandeep Deshmukh, Second Officer Mr Bharat Barad, and Caretaker Mrs Chandrika Dalsaniya from the Rajkumar College, Rajkot were also in attendance at the conclave. This conclave served as a platform for discussions and strategic planning to enhance the effectiveness of NCC initiatives in the region.

 

Industrial Visit: I-Cast Alloys LLP:

On December 8th, as part of the Department of Commerce curriculum, senior students from Form XI-B and XI-C, accompanied by Dr. Mitesh Popat, Mr. Vivek Damodar, and Mr. Nikhil Sharma, embarked on an educational visit to I-Cast Alloys LLP, owned by Mr. Parag Viroja. Situated in the industrial zone of Metoda, the facility specializes in the investment casting of both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Upon arrival at the production site, the students were led through a comprehensive tour by knowledgeable factory personnel. The tour provided valuable insights into the intricate processes involved in casting, including molding, coating, heating, melting, dyeing, and other key stages of production. Students gained awareness of the latest production methodologies, cutting-edge technologies, and the diverse range of products being manufactured.

The streamlined production facilities and the proficiency exhibited by the workers left a lasting impression on the students, inspiring them with admiration for the implemented manufacturing techniques. Through hands-on experiences, the students acquired in-depth knowledge of the production processes, from design to polishing, comprehensively understanding every aspect of the assembly line.

Following refreshments and the conclusion of the industrial tour, students had the privilege of meeting Mr. Parag Viroja, the visionary behind I-Cast Alloys LLP. As a token of appreciation, a memento was presented to him on behalf of Rajkumar College, Rajkot. Mr. Viroja graciously answered student queries, providing clarity and wisdom that enhanced the students’ understanding of successful business operations. He also shared valuable insights into the challenges faced by the industry, making the interaction session an invaluable learning experience.

 

 

Priyalok Vilas Fancy Dress Competition

Fancy dress show was conducted on 16 December, 2023 by Group 2 students of The Priyalok Vilas at Bhavsinhji hall. The purpose of conducting the fancy dress show was not only to blend learning with fun but also to develop confidence in the students by giving them opportunity to speak in front of the audience. Children were dressed in colorful costumes and had props. They spoke few sentences on the character that they depicted. The efforts put by teachers and parents’ imagination and creativity was highly commendable. All Group 2 sections had different themes such as Sea & Beaches, Incredible India and World around me.

 

Self defense training for Girls

On the morning of 29th November, 2023, a taekwondo mass-class was conducted under the guidance of Mr Basujeet Singh and Mrs Vaishali Thangjam. The event was organised for Form 7 and the non-NCC girls. They were taught the various techniques and major elements of self-defence. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and found the event productive. The session was led by Kena Shah, Riya Pathan, and Rajeshwari Barik.

 

Workshop for Priyalok Vilas (Kindergarten) teachers

A workshop on “Some important Behaviour Modification Techniques and understanding Learning Disabilities among young children through classroom Intervention” was conducted by Mrs Kanta Rajpal (Psychologist) for Priyalok Vilas (Kindergarten) teachers. The resource person also focused on “Building Healthy Relationships with children”.

Event-Form 2 and 3 Rangoli Making Competition

Three capacity-building workshops took place on November 22, 2023, aiming to improve the effectiveness of staff members.

  1. Stress management workshop by CBSE : to help staff deal with stress
  2. Dr. Lalit Chande conducted a captivating workshop on enhancing classroom vibrancy.
  3. Mrs. Kanta Rajpal conducted a workshop for Priyalok Vilas teachers focusing on learning difficulties and techniques for behavioural modification.

Organizing Rangoli Competition helps students to remain in close touch with their culture. This Rangoli making competition motivated the students to perform and outshine in their creative skills and most important, work as a team to bring laurels to their houses. The purpose of Rangoli making is beyond decoration as it helps to channelize one’s internal powers through curves, lines and bright colours. The students experienced team spirit and worked with great levels of enthusiasm.

 

 

 

English Elocution for Forms IX and X

The English Elocution for Forms IX and X was held at Bhavsinhji Hall in The Rajkumar College on 2nd November 2023 under the guidance of mentor teachers Mrs Neha Sheth, Mrs Anita Motwani, Ms Jyotis Jacob, and Ms Maitreyee Joshi. A total of 16 students participated in the competition. The judges for the event were Ms Komal Raya, PGT-English, S. N. Kansagra school, Mrs Preeti Francis, HoD English, and Mr Soumick Bagchi, PGT-English, Rajkumar College, Rajkot.

The winners were as following:
