VISIT TO KHANKHANA VILLAGE ON 29-03-2023

When Anne Frank said, “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment to improve the world”, we took action upon it.

On 29th March, Interactors reached Khakhana village with the hope to brighten up some minds. We were accompanied by our club coordinator Mr Sandeep Deshmukh, escort teachers – Mrs Tanuja Sharma, Mrs Vaishali Thangjam and Ms. Deepa Dave, who guided us at every point.

Interactors were divided in groups of 5 based on preference and expertise. The first group tackled a very important genre of conversation – menstrual hygiene. With the help of attractive posters and informative sessions, this group had positively impacted the students. They learnt to make optimal use of their resources and take care of themselves.

The second group conducted a session on finance which evidently made for a crucial discussion. They had discussed the savings and mismanagement of money. The message we passed was not to spend irresponsibly.

Right next door was career counselling in session. This team created a children friendly quiz to collect data on how the students view their futures, but more importantly, how we can help expand their visions in a plausible way. The students studying in grades 6-8, which is their senior most batches were the target audience. They found it interesting especially when the charts regarding streams were explained. We were beyond pleased to see their response.

The rest of the members kept their part brief and sent the children over to the group conducting entertainment. We had brought along large sized snakes and ladders and twister. They took their turns and we were in awe of their discipline.

While all of this was going on, the rest of the students were accounted for by our very own taekwondo masters who, with the guidance of Mrs Vaishali Thangjam, performed sword fighting. It was truly a sight that one couldn’t resist.

Interactors were overwhelmed with the support from the school and the patient responses of the children. Since we had some time on our hands, we figured we should travel a little further to visit out school’s “Halfway House” which is built on a scenic hill top. We captured those moments and buckled up for our way back to Rajkot.
