The Sesquicentennial year of The Rajkumar College, Rajkot (1870 – 2020)

Way back in 1868, the oldest Chiefs boarding School in India, The Rajkumar College, Rajkot was founded by the Princes and Chiefs of Kathiawar for the education of their sons and relations. On 16th December 1870, our school was declared open by Sir Seymour Fitzgerald, Governor of Bombay. Many milestones later, on the 10th January 1939  The Rajkumar College, Rajkot opened its doors to all.

The course of study then was the Chiefs Diploma followed by the Cambridge School Certificate. Students could also opt for the Secondary School Certificate. The syllabus followed now is the CBSE.

In 2001 the College admitted Girls officially and also initiated the Pre School section the PriyaLok Villas. On 24th March 2011, a new building for the education of Girls was inaugurated by HE Smt Kamla Beniwal, Governor of Gujarat.

The success of the institution completing 150 years in education goes to the Board of Trustees, Principals, teachers, support staff,  the alumni, students, and parents.

Sports has always been an integral part of the curriculum and RKC has given legendary cricketers like Ranjitsinhji, Dilipsinhji, and several other National and International players.

The College is a founding member of the Indian Public Schools Conference and our students participate in the inter-school competitions zealously, bringing accolades. Our NCC students have also been selected as best cadet in Army, Navy, and Air Wing at the National and State level. The school also is an active member of Round Square, MUN, and Interact (Rotary) Club and has won international recognition.
