On the Republic Day this year The Rajkumar College, Rajkot celebrated this 73rd occasion with a solemn and restricted participation, in the Quadrangle, observing all Covid-19 protocols. The Guest of Honour on this occasion was Thakore Saheb Shri Kirtikumar Sinhji of Lathi, Trustee of The Rajkumar College Trust. Thakurani Saheba of Lathi also joined the celebration, adding grace to the occasion. The Chief Guest arrived at the Quadrangle, escorted by a girl and a boy Senior Prefects and the Vice Principal, to find the smartly dressed Boarder Girls and Boys lined up in the lawn in front of the stage, maintaining a minimum social distance required. The members of the in-campus residential staff were also lined up, properly attired for the occasion & observing all Covid norms.
The honourable Trustee unfurled the National Tricolour Flag to the tune of the National Anthem- Jana gana mana. The Chief Guest and the Associate NCC Officers in uniform, saluted the proud flag while all the others stood in “Attention” to show respect to our national symbol of sovereign India. The Vice Principal, Mr. Abijit Das read out the school prayer- Where the mind is without fear, lines penned by Rabindra Nath Tagore and then requested the Chief Guest to address the students & the members of the staff in the gathering.
Thakore Saheb blessed the students with wishes for their good health and good results. He congratulated them for having braved the Covid and having decided to come to school for studies. He urged them to be careful about following the pandemic protocols. He encouraged the members of the staff to work well to protect the students and themselves from any kind of medical issues and enable successful teaching-learning to happen inspite of all restrictions. The Guests of Honour, Thokore Saheb & Thakurani Saheba came down from the stage and met all the students and the staff present asking about their well-being and wishing them on the the occasion of the Republic Day, observing all social distancing requirements.
The guests moved on to the Bungalow after meeting and blessing the support staff present on the occasion. The short but sober event came to an end with the students & the staff moving on to the Dhrangadhara Hall for the ceremonial formal breakfast. The college received messages from all well-wishers on this memorable, historical day.
