Learning happens all the while and at all places, if we pay attention to the surroundings. To explain this to the students, the Day Boarder girls and boys of Class 1 to 8 were taken on a trip to the place which fits the thought well. Sasan Gir, situated amongst the forest in the state of Gujarat, has a rich heritage of the wild life. It being close and an appropriate place to learn was chosen for the excursion.

The journey to the woods began around 6:45 am on Saturday, March 11, 2023. The students were escorted by a team of seven teachers and three members of helping staff along with one of the assistants from the trip organizer. It took a while for the big team of 97 people to settle down after reaching the resort and  then all had tempting lunch well served with love. After a rest of an hour and half, the group headed to Devaliya Park, which is a sanctuary, to witness the beautiful wild life. Watching various animals like lions, spotted deer, leopards, blue bulls and cheetahs was an amazing experience for the children. On returning to the resort, the children were welcomed with some refreshments for it was tea time. While waiting for the dinner, the Junior boys had a pep talk with the House Mistress where they shared their observations and all had a discussion on the harmful effects of the radiation and pollution that are the result of some of the inventions and activities of human beings which is making the life of the other creatures difficult. The discussion ended on a positive note and the little ones understood the importance of the need to take care of the bio diversity and not live selfish lives.

At night, we met the agile tribal dancers in their show ‘Tamasha’ and were amazed by the skills and talent that they possess. Dance and music are our souls hence, how can our day be complete without exhibiting our skill of dance on toe tapping music with our favourite songs till late evening. The day ended the best way it could have been.

More surprises added to our happiness the next day when we explored nature early morning. Junior Boys did remember to thank the nature and the Almighty in their morning prayer. We started for the visit to the revered temple of Lord Shiva at Somnath. We thanked God for showering us with good health and all the happiness of life. We brought ‘Mahadev’s blessings for our friends too who could not join us on the trip.

Finally, arrived the time to head home. On our way back we meditated to calm down our minds and ultimately had a long nap of two hours. We had refreshments on the way and reached school around 7:30 pm in the evening. With our hearts filled with immeasurable joy, we left  for home.
